M&R Liquors is a family owned company established by "M", Marrion Rounseville and "R", Roy Rounseville in 1952. The company's first store was located in Glastonbury, CT and by the mid 1970's, this one store soon multiplied into fourteen stores. About this time the operation of the stores was passed along to Roy and Marrion's two sons, Gary and Neal, who to this day run its daily operations. Today M&R consists of six stores that circle Hartford, CT. In 2009, Ian Rounseville, son of Gary and in 2020, Kyle Rounseville, son of Neal and both members of the third generation, joined the business full time to continue the "M&R" legacy. M&R has received numerous national and local honors for leadership and retail excellence in the alcohol beverage industry. Included in this list was an invitation for membership in the prestigious Wine and Spirits Guild of America, an organization of 40 of the nation's finest beverage retailers. M&R has also been named "One of America's 10 Best" by Beverage Dynamics Magazine, and Market Watch Magazine has honored the company with its "Market Watch Leader Award" for excellence and leadership in the alcohol beverage retailing industry. However, it is M&R's Manager Team of twenty one that makes M&R what it is today. One reason that M&R is unique in the retail industry is the loyalty of its managers to the company. Some have been with M&R for 30 years, and many have worked for the company for over 10. One of the reasons for this loyalty is the fact that M&R has given them the unique opportunity to travel to most of the world's wine districts to see first hand how the wine is produced. Knowledge of wine is one of the keys to M&R's success in the marketplace, and this travel is one of the keys to understanding its many intricacies. So, if you are a loyal M&R customer, we would like to take this opportunity now to thank you for your business. If you are moving to or traveling to Connecticut, please take the time to stop in to one of our locations. We are committed to bring the excellence of service that is unique to M&R far into this new millennium. |
